Fiery remarks from Müjde Ar in response to claims that she “attacked journalists”...
Artist Müjde Ar has come to the agenda with claims that she “attacked journalists.” Ar stated that the incident was distorted and announced that she has initiated legal proceedings.
The veteran figure of Turkish cinema, Müjde Ar, had been seen shopping at Akmerkez in Istanbul last week and later became the subject of claims in some media outlets that she had “attacked journalists.”
Breaking her silence on the matter, Ar spoke to Sibel Yükler from T24 and announced that she has initiated legal action.
“THEY DID NOT SHOW PRESS CREDENTIALS”
Ar stated that four individuals who approached her claimed to be journalists but did not present any identification or press credentials, and described the incident as follows:
“I noticed four people approaching me from a very close distance. I became uneasy before I could understand what was happening. They introduced themselves as journalists but showed no proof. I reacted to the situation. However, in some publications, this reaction was portrayed as an ‘attack on journalists.’”
“I EXPERIENCED PERSONAL SAFETY CONCERNS”
Arguing that the incident was distorted on social media and some news platforms, Ar stated that the public had been misled.
The actress emphasized that the situation arose from personal safety concerns and noted that legal steps have been taken through her lawyer against the allegations.
STATEMENT FROM HER LAWYER
Müjde Ar’s lawyer, Bişar Abdi Alınak, stated that the shopping mall management apologized to Ar regarding the incident. He also noted that unauthorized filming had taken place and that the images shared with the public did not reflect reality, adding:
“Our client’s reaction to individuals approaching her and violating her personal space stemmed from security concerns. However, in some outlets, this situation was taken out of context and misrepresented to the public.”
Alınak emphasized that being a public figure cannot justify the violation of one’s private life and announced that the legal struggle will be pursued decisively.
