Kurdish Service Application to 350 Companies
Applications have been submitted to 350 domestic and international companies—including social media platforms such as X and Facebook, operating systems Android and iOS, local technology brands Vestel and Arçelik, the domestic automobile company TOGG, as well as automotive companies, banks, telecommunications firms, mobile shopping platforms, food brands, retail clothing chains, and airline companies—requesting that Kurdish be added as a language option in the products and services they offer.
“KURDISH, THE LANGUAGE OF 60 MILLION PEOPLE, IS NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR SERVICES”
In the petition sent to the companies, lawyer Bişar Alınak stated:
“We regret to observe that Kurdish, the mother tongue used in daily communication and professional life by approximately 55–60 million Kurds, is not offered as an option on your brand’s official website.”
Alınak emphasized that providing Kurdish language options in visual and audio content is a requirement of the principle of equal treatment, stating:
“The absence of Kurdish in your brand’s content forces millions of people to meet their needs in another language. Children whose mother tongue is Kurdish and who have not yet been exposed to other languages are faced with the difficulty of using your products in a language they do not understand. This deficiency also causes irreparable harm for users with disabilities, special needs, and those within the neurodiversity spectrum, as well as for children.”
