A statement has been issued by the lawyer of artist Suavi, who was subjected to an attempted attack by a group during an event where he performed at the “19 August World Beykozlular Day” celebration held in Beykoz, Istanbul.

According to lawyer Bişar Abdi Alınak, legal proceedings have been initiated regarding the incident, and he expressed gratitude to all citizens who acted with common sense. According to reports by DurakMedya, the renowned artist Suavi has launched legal action following the attack he experienced on stage.

In his statement, Alınak said:

“Veteran artist Suavi was targeted prior to the concert organized on 19 August 2024 upon the invitation of Beykoz Municipality, through posts made by officials of the Beykoz District of the Nationalist Movement Party. He was subjected to insults and slander involving criminal accusations, along with calls aimed at forcibly preventing his concert.

As a result of these coordinated posts, particularly from the district’s social media account and its chairman, a group attempted to attack the concert, thereby threatening the safety of our client and the audience.

The best response to these attacks against our client—who has been unjustly associated with crime and violence—has come from his audience, who associate his name only with peace and brotherhood, as well as from the appreciation of disaster victims whom he has supported with all his means.

This provocation, carried out during a public concert with no age restriction and disregarding the safety of children, and the attempt by its perpetrators to associate our client’s name with crime, constitutes an attack on the collective conscience and common sense of society.

The fact that this heinous attempt coincided with our client performing the lyric ‘I shared my bread and ate it’ clearly reveals the true divide: those who advocate for a society where everyone lives together in brotherhood, and those who hide their crimes behind campaigns of hatred.

We hereby announce that we will initiate all necessary legal proceedings to ensure that these individuals and structures—already condemned in the conscience of the public—face the sanctions they deserve before the law. We also extend our gratitude, on behalf of our client, to everyone who stood in solidarity against these attacks.”
